Kuala Lumpur - A Travel Blog


If you are traveling just for a quick visit to the capital city of Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur, you can still make the most out of it roaming around the city. Kuala Lumpur has much to offer to tourists even if you have limited time. In this blog, I will elaborate the top spots that I visited in my quick trip to Kuala Lumpur. I see to it that every minute counts that's why I chose the bests spots that I can think of when you are in Kuala Lumpur.



TOP SPOTS TO VISIT IN KUALA LUMPUR


  • Petronas Tower - also known as the twin towers of Malaysia. The tallest building from 1998 to 2004 before Taipei 101 construction. The building is compose of 88 floors with an observation deck at 86 floor and a sky-bridge which connects the two towers. Ticket price going up the tower to see the beautiful view of the city is RM 85.

Entrance Fee: RM 85 - If you go up the building


How to get there: If your hotel is near the MRT Station, alight at KLCC Station and walk going to exit straight to the Suria KLCC Mall. You won't have a problem going here. Just follow the crowd because they all go to the Twin Tower.


  • Suria KLCC Mall and KLCC Park - An upbeat mall with lots of luxury goods and well known brands. Suria KLCC is the largest shopping mall in Malaysia Lots of locals and foreign visitors shop and dine here after taking a photo of the famous Twin Towers. At the back of Suria KLCC and Petronas Tower is the KLCC Park. This park is famous for its landscape of green trees, jogging paths, fountain and children's playground.

  • Menara KL Tower - also known as a communication Tower in Kuala Lumpur. The KL Tower is the seventh tallest communication tower in the world. Here you can have a 360 view of the city.

How to get there: The nearest MRT Station at KL Tower is Masjid Jamek/Bukit Nanas/Raja Chulan. From the station walk about 15-20 minutes. What I did was I book a grab/uber from my hotel cost is around RM 8.00. 

The view from the observatory deck is breathtaking. Included in the ticket is you can take a photo from a glass floor 350 meters high from the ground. In the photo you can see Petronas Tower at my back.


  • Batu Caves - is a limestone hill that have caves and cave temples inside. Batu caves is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is the most popular Tamil shrines outside India.

Location: Gombak District Selangor, Malaysia
Entrance Fee: Free


How to get there: From KL Sentral take the KTM Komuter Train and alight at Subang Jaya Station. Exit at your right side and walk for 3-5 minutes. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing when you go here because they won't allow you to go up the caves and cave temples. Appropriate clothing means no exposed shoulder or skin above the knee. There are also a lot of monkeys roaming around the temples. Be careful to them because sometimes they become wild.



  • Genting Highlands - also known as Resorts World Genting. The hill resort are comprising of hotels, shopping malls, theme parks and casinos.

How to get there: The easiest way to get to Genting Highlands is thru their Shuttle Bus. From KL Sentral take the hourly shuttle bus. The travel time will take you around 45 minutes and costs RM 10.

  • Kasturi Walk - A popular market in Kuala Lumpur filled with things to buy and eat. At the entrance of the market is a Pewter Wau Bulan. This is a type of Malay  kite which looks like a butterfly.

Location: Jalan Kasturi
Entrance Fee: Free

How to get there: From the LRT alight at Pasir Seni Station and walk for 3-5 minutes going to the market. We enjoyed eating local street foods here. I suggest you try the coconuts here. They are delicious and sweet to eat and drink.

    What a comprehensive travel blog guide to Kuala Lumpur! Malaysia is somewhere I would love to visit at least once in my lifetime. Love the mix of traditional and modern attractions. The Batu Caves sound like something I would love to see!
